Coca-Cola Corned Beef: A Delicious Treat


A good roast is often considered to be good old fashioned comfort food. So what if you took America’s most prolific soda and added it to your roast. Most people don’t think of adding Coca-Cola to their food. Their usually too busy drinking the black gold that has become the most recognized soda brand in the world. Let’s discuss this less known use for Coca-Cola. Mrs. Brenda Back, uses Coca-Cola in her crockpot when cooking her corned beef brisket. “It’s known to be a great meat tenderizer” says Mrs. Back.


The caramelized sugars in Coca-Cola add sweetness as they’re cooked over time. Another reason this technique is effective, is the acid in Coca-Cola. The acid also helps to tenderize the meat. It is widely known that Coco-Cola works well with Barbeque sauce to impart flavor in ribs and other grilled meats. Now we know it’s a great addition to your St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef and Cabbage as well.
